MobileRobots, Inc
(formerly ActivMedia Robotics, LLC) is a global leader in the design
and manufacture of
intelligent mobile bases, sensing systems and software. Their robots
are used on six continents and by leading
organizations around the world.
History MobileRobots launched its first robot in 1995 in
collaboration with Real World Interface, which later became the
research division of iRobot. The two companies parted ways in 1997.
Since then, MobileRobots systems have become the
most
popular intelligent mobile robotics development platforms in the world.
The company has collaborated on grants from DARPA and
NIH. MobileRobots platforms
have appeared on Discovery Channel, Scientific American Frontiers and
other popular venues.
CustomersIn 2001, the company shipped its 1,000th robot and began the transition from research to application systems. In 2002, the company began release of its revolutionary new robot developer software suite for its thousands of robot software developers. Beginning with the ARIA API, development tools are rapidly expanding to include a powerhouse of robot software, including: building mapper and map editor, GUI libraries, state machine editors, network configuration tools and robot route builders. In 2002, the company offered the first robotic application systems based on its sensing and robotics technologies, with installations and repeat purchases from early Fortune 500 adopters. Despite conservative management, the company was named one of the Deloitte-Touche Fast 500 companies in North America in 2003. In 2004, MobileRobots launched PatrolBot, an enterprise robot designed to support security and building automation, enabling IT departments to take control of wireless mobile systems operating within their domains. It also introduced the Advanced Robotics Control System (ARCS), which enables OEMS to build the intelligence of MobileRobots devices into their own robotic systems. Using MobileRobots bases and software, thousands of
developers, researchers and VAR's worldwide have designed and developed
robots and/or robotic behaviors and applications. A few of our hundreds of
customers follow:
Leading the MobileRobots Team... JEANNE DIETSCH, CEO & CO-FOUNDER. Ms. Dietsch
began her career in educational marketing and was chosen at age 26 to
be the educational products manager of the Weber Costello company. Her
entrepreneurial career started at age 29 in partnership with IDG
Chairman Pat
McGovern in the TALMIS affiliate of IDG. Dietsch independently founded
the
first market
research company specializing in e-commerce in 1995 and co-founded the
robotics group later that year. As co-founder and
visionary of MobileRobots, Dietsch sets strategic
and tactical
directions, builds partnerships and heads sales, marketing and
administrative efforts.
WILLIAM KENNEDY, PHD,
CIO & CO-FOUNDER As CIO, Dr. Kennedy manages the information,
processes, procedures and other assets of
MobileRobots. Kennedy led the
company since
start-up to build its current fleet of robotic systems. Before helping
found MobileRobots, Dr. Kennedy
quadrupled robot
sales for Real World Interface prior to its merger with iRobot. In
earlier careers, Kennedy taught computing at Loyola
University of Chicago for two years. Kennedy led A+
Publishing as
editor-in-chief, running ten publications, including MacWorld. He first worked with
Unix-like
systems as Senior Editor of SunWorld magazine. Kennedy is
co-author
of O'Reilly's HTML/XHTML: The
Definitive Guide, which has sold
over ¾ million copies in 15 languages. MobileRobots technology partners and individual collaborators include world leaders in robot navigation, perception and behaviors. The company's staff of engineers, programmers, roboticists, manufacturing specialists, technical documentation and support staff, plus experienced management have provided customers with outstanding service and support for many years.
